Selection of equipment and technologies is a highly organized and focused exercise at SRL, as the significance of the right choice of equipment and technology for performing a test cannot be overemphasized. This is achieved through a rigorous process of shortlisting, validation and selection. Cross-validation between different models of the same equipment, between different levels of same brand, and between different platforms in the same laboratory, as well as across laboratories, ensures reproducibility of results. Uniformity of platforms at different laboratory locations is another conscious effort at SRL to ensure better internal and inter-laboratory quality control and consistency of results across the entire SRL system. It also provides better back-up for the existing equipment. |

The techniques and technologies used for performing tests are the latest and most accepted ones. Alternate technologies are also available for several assays, to suit the requirement of the patients and the prescribing physicians. |

As far as possible, equipment-specific reference ranges are established in-house while validating any new acquisition. These are of great value in the accurate interpretation of abnormal results since vendor established reference ranges are often not applicable to the Indian population. Moreover, the circumstances prevailing in most Indian laboratories demand establishing such ranges. |
