Another major challenge in the operation of a laboratory network is the issue of sample integrity and maintenance of TAT when tests are conducted by laboratories located in a geographic area logistically far removed from the sample collection point. At SRL we are fully cognizant of the pre-analytic variable resulting from transportation of samples across long distances. Therefore, based on a large body of in-house data generated from simulated conditions, we have defined acceptance and rejection criteria for outstation samples, and accordingly have adapted several tests to appropriate technologies and testing platforms. We have addressed such critical factors as the designing of different types of containers used for transporting samples, all to ensure that the right temperatures are maintained while samples are in transit. Our strong Logistic support and network ensure timely pick-up, transport and delivery of samples from the farthest corner of our country, or even abroad, to the pre-designated laboratory for testing. A strong indigenously developed IT system allows continuous monitoring of the samples from the time of collection till reporting. Hence it is possible to track any sample and know the status of review and reporting on a real-time basis. |
